I was walking along a forest path. Warm sunlight shone down from the clear sky, and my breath flowed comfortably in rhythm with the gentle breeze. I simply closed my eyes gently. I could see what was ahead. My mind was so at ease that I didn’t even question the fact that I could see ahead, so it took me a moment to realize what was happening.
At first, everything unfolded exactly as it would if I were seeing it with my eyes open, so I had no reason to doubt it. But the more I walked, the more I noticed that everything seemed to be alive and undulating, and the moment I asked myself, “Why is this happening?” I realized I had my eyes closed.
Strangely enough, the moment I realized this, everything went pitch black, and I had no choice but to open my eyes.
I realized I had walked quite a distance with my eyes closed. The fact that the world we see with our eyes isn’t just like a photograph, but that everything seems to be alive and undulating, came as a huge shock to me.
It felt as if I had discovered the true nature of the world, just like in the movie *The Matrix*.
My spiritual eye had opened. We call these spiritual eye the “third eye.” I’d like to call it the “eye that see the true world.” Once you’ve seen the true world, your perception of it changes. This is because you come to realize that everything is alive—not just the things we’ve always considered living beings, but even those we thought were inanimate objects. I’ll continue this discussion in more detail in my next post.
